Also known as Wu wei zi and five flavor berry, Schisandra is a genus of woody vines from Asia. Able to tolerate some shade, magnolia vines are a great way to shade your house in summer, harvest delicious and juicy berries, and still allow the warmth of the sun through during the winter.

The berries have many medicinal uses as an immune booster, and are often made into wines, jellies and juices.  Plant at least two, because both male and female plants are needed to pollinate the pretty flowers.

A great medicinal and edible permaculture plant.
